This Plastic Is TOXIC, are you using it?

By bodymindsuccessblogs

Over the years I heard about plastic containers leaking toxic chemicals, but I hadn’t become aware of how toxic they truly can be. According to the University of Misouri’s biologist Frederick Vom Saal, and a consortium of scientists, published an scary assessment in Reproductive Toxicology last summer. They suggest that a polycarbonate Bisphenol A (BPA) – leaked by some plastics can:

  • scramble the reproductive system.
  • may increase our risk of obesity.
  • Increase our odds of cancer.
  • And of course having reproductive problems.

So, what can you do to avoid this toxicity?

First, if you are going to use plastic containers, stick to those with the recycling numbers 1, 2, 4, and 5. DO NOT use the ones with recycling numbers 3, 6 or 7. The containers with recycling number three is made of toxyc polyvinyl chloride. Containers with “Six” is polystyrene (has been found to be toxic to the brain, nervous system, liver, kidneys and stomach in animals). And “Sevens” are usually polycarbonate, which leaches BPA.

Second, if you can use glass, then do so. You can use ceramic, or pyrex.

Third, if you do use a microwave, do not use plastic. There has been growing ovidence that suggests it best not to put any plastic iin the microwave.

If you are looking for some containers to carry your water, you may consider these Sigg waterbottles, which you can get directly from Amazon.

If you have a baby, I strongly recommend you take a look at the related article below. Keep your baby safe:
